I have contributed an article to the July/August issue of the Visual Artist's News Sheet which gives an overview of the development of my online artwork Onym.
The project began as an artist’s book and for the next stage I'd like to develop it as a gallery installation if the opportunity arises.
Without access to my studio during the Covid-19 pandemic, I have been using my time to develop on online artwork which is now live at onym.ie. The work explores the malleability of language and meaning by using a Thesaurus to shift and nuance the meaning of a word into its opposite. The roots of work are in an earlier artists book based on this same idea.
