I spoke to Vanessa Monaghan aka Nessa about my exhibition Out of Order at the Lab for her Culture Cafe programme on RTE’s digital radio station XFM in 2011. The feature on the exhibition starts at 17mins 28secs.

Bio

Niall de Buitléar was born in 1983 in Dublin and graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology with a BA in Fine Art in 2006 and a postgraduate diploma in Creative Digital Media in 2014.

Solo exhibitions of his work have been held at the RHA, Dublin; Pallas Projects, Dublin; the Wexford Arts Centre; 126, Galway; and twice at the The Lab, Dublin. He has participated in two-person exhibitions at the Wexford Arts Centre and Queen Street Studios, Belfast. Group exhibitions include a show curated by Robert Armstrong at the Dunmaise Gallery, Portlaoise and Jealous Wall at the Luan Gallery curated by Séamus McCormack.

Previous group exhibitions include Out/Tuo at Catalyst Arts, Belfast; None Went Mad...None Ran Away, Rubicon Gallery, Dublin; Futures 10, RHA, Dublin; Material Worlds: Contemporary Sculpture from Ireland and the UK, FE McWilliam Gallery, Banbridge; Dawning of an Aspect, Green on Red Gallery, Dublin; Bookish: When Books Become Art, Lewis Glucksman Gallery, Cork; and An Exhibition In 5 Chapters, Contemporary Art Centre, Vilnius.

In 2020 he received an award from the Arts Council of Ireland to develop the online artwork Onym (www.onym.ie). He also was awarded a Fingal Arts Residency Award at Graphic Print Studio in 2020 and is currently working on a screen-print collaboration with Damn Fine Print.

He is a previous winner of the Red Stables Irish Residential Studio Award; the Wexford Arts Centre's Emerging Visual Artist's Award; The Flax Art Studios Graduate Award; and numerous Artists Council Awards.

He was a member of Temple Bar Gallery and Studios from 2011 - 2014 and is currently based at Pallas Projects/Studios, Dublin.
